MotorLedger is a vehicle collection management and portfolio tracking application. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use our website (motorledger.ai) and application (cars.motorledger.ai).

Data we collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide the service:

  • Account information: email address and authentication credentials
  • Vehicle data: registration numbers, VINs, make, model, year, and related details you enter or that are returned from DVLA/NHTSA lookups
  • Documents: photos and documents you upload (insurance policies, MOT certificates, V5C documents, service receipts)
  • Usage data: basic analytics to improve the service (no third-party tracking scripts)

How we use your data

Your data is used solely to provide and improve the MotorLedger service. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not run third-party tracking scripts or advertising on our website or application.

Data storage and security

All data is stored on Supabase infrastructure in the EU region. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Vehicle photos and documents are stored in private storage buckets with signed URLs — they are never publicly accessible. Row-level security ensures you can only access your own data.

Your rights under UK GDPR

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access: request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification: correct any inaccurate personal data
  • Erasure: request deletion of your personal data
  • Data portability: export your data in a machine-readable format (JSON export is available in the app)
  • Restrict processing: limit how we use your data
  • Object: object to processing of your personal data

Data export

You can export your complete vehicle data at any time as a JSON file or a self-contained HTML file. This export includes all vehicle details, valuations, documents, and service records. Your data is never locked in.

Cookies

This marketing website does not use cookies or tracking scripts. The MotorLedger application uses essential cookies for authentication and session management only.
